National Police Week

This week is National Police Week, May 12-18, 2024. During National Police Week, the North Mankato Police Department remembers Reserve Officer Eugene L. Cousins, who died in the line of duty. On Friday, May 4, 1979, he suffered a stroke while searching a ravine for a suspect following a vehicle pursuit, and passed away on Sunday, May 6, 1979. National Police Week began in 1962, and was established by President John F. Kennedy to remember officers who died in the line of duty.
