Mankato Transit System Increases Services To and From North Mankato

Mankato-Beginning Monday, June 3, Mankato Transit System will provide increased services to and from North Mankato. Adjustments have been made to increase service hours, reroute Fixed Route 5 to enhance timelines, and add an additional bus stop.

Fixed Route 5

Route 5 will run on a thirty-minute frequency from the Cherry Street Bus Stop:

  • Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:05 a.m. and 5:05 p.m.
  • Saturdays between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
  • Stop added at Koppen Gardens, 615 Nicollet Avenue.

Paratransit

Paratransit service within the city of North Mankato will be aligned with Route 5 hours of service:

  • Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:05 a.m. and 5:05 p.m.
  • Saturdays between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Service changes are part of the implementation of Mankato’s Transit Development Plan. The five-year plan includes rebranding efforts and changes to make transit services more accessible, efficient and easier for riders to use.

Community engagement during Mankato’s Transit Development Plan identified community interest in increased service hours for North Mankato. In coordination with the City of North Mankato, a survey was conducted in February 2024 to get feedback on the recommended service changes for North Mankato.
